Disclosed in the present invention are a desktop switching method, apparatus and system, belonging to the field of computers. Said method comprises: generating a first desktop window; setting the first desktop window according to the relative relationship between the second desktop window and the first desktop window; switching the desktop based on the current desktop window as well as said relative relationship between the first desktop window and the second desktop window. Said apparatus comprises: a framework entry module, a docked controller, and a desktop manager. The present invention enables the switch between two desktop windows through the above scheme. Users can select suitable desktops according to their needs of applications, and use the applications on the desktop.
