<p>The present invention is a method that is for producing tetrahydrofuran and that produces tetrahydrofuran by supplying a starting material 1,4-butanediol containing gamma-butyrolactone to a reaction tank and performing a cyclodehydration reaction in the presence of a homogeneous acid catalyst having a pKa of no greater than 4 and able to dissolve in 1,4-butanediol, wherein a gas containing water, the gamma-butyrolactone, and the tetrahydrofuran in the reaction tank is introduced to a heat exchanger, obtaining a condensed liquid at the exit of the heat exchanger, at which point the ratio of the concentration of gamma-butyrolactone in the condensed liquid to the concentration of the gamma-butyrolactone in the starting material 1,4-butanediol is 20-100%.</p> |
