ELECTRIC CONTACT AND ELECTRIC CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of contacts without further narrowing a pitch in a torsion type electric contact.

SOLUTION: A contact unit 8 is equipped with a pair of contact elements 10. Each contact element 10 has a plurality of contact beam portions 15, and contact coupling portions 16. The contact beam portion 15 has a plug contacting portion 21 and a socket contacting portion 22. The plug contacting portion 21 and the socket contacting portion 22 are disposed so as to make the contact beam portion 15 relatively twist-deform to the contact coupling portion 16 when a plug connector 2 and a receptacle connector 3 are opposed over the contact beam portion 15. The contact unit 8 is configured by combining the pair of the contact elements 10 so as to alternately align the plurality of the contact beam portions 15 of one contact element 10 and the plurality of the contact beam portions 15 of the other contact element 10.
