<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a port for an internal combustion engine that can properly form, in a combustion chamber, a swirl flow of gas introduced into the combustion chamber with consideration of both a flow of gas toward the inside from the outside of the combustion chamber and a flow gas toward the outside from the inside of the combustion chamber, and can adequately maintain the swirl flow. <P>SOLUTION: The port 31 includes: a pathway 31a for communication between the inside and the outside of the combustion chamber 25; and a bearing 31b for moving a valve 32 for opening and closing the pathway 31a, along the axial line of the valve. The pathway 31a and the bearing 31b are configured such that a port angle θ is less than 90 degrees, the port angle being an angle defined by: a virtual plane VP including a combustion chamber side end 31c which is an end of the pathway 31a and connects the pathway to the inside of the combustion chamber; and a virtual line VL corresponding to the axial line of the valve in the bearing 31b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
