The method involves positioning a contactless sensor (2) for monitoring a detection corridor (4), where objects move along a detection path (3) within the detection corridor. Reflectors (5) are associated with the sensor and arranged along the detection path in a stationary manner to reflect beams of the sensor and identify the detection path. Deviation in position of the sensor from a target position is determined based on the reflectance of the beams by the reflectors. A micro-Doppler effect is uniquely identified by the reflectors. An independent claim is also included for a regulating and/or control device for adjusting a contactless sensor.
