<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique able to prevent an optical change resulting from vibration or impact during the transport of a reading device and able to appropriately remove foreign matter. <P>SOLUTION: The reading device comprises: a housing; a light source unit; a mirror unit configured to define an optical path for light reflected from a document within the housing, by interlocking with the light source unit; and a locking mechanism for fixing the mirror unit. The mirror unit includes a mirror member that reflects reflected light. The locking mechanism comprises an operation member operated in order to fix the mirror unit; a locking member including a first member to which the operation member is connected and a second member movable between a releasing position for permitting movement of the mirror unit and a locking position for fixing the mirror unit; and a cleaning member attached to the second member.
