<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in time required in inverting conveyance due to size and direction of a recording medium to be subjected to the inverting conveyance for conveying a recording medium by inverting both sides. <P>SOLUTION: This inverting conveying device 100 comprises: a carrying-in passage Ra conveying a sheet while setting a sheet leading end at the head along a carrying-in direction Da1 and conveying it while setting a sheet first side end at the head along a delivery direction Da2; the inverting passage Rb conveying the sheet from the carrying-in passage Ra in an inverting direction Db and changing the sheet first side end and a sheet second side end; and a carrying-out passage Rc conveying the sheet from the inverting passage Rb along a receiving direction Dc1 while setting the sheet leading end at the head along a carrying-out direction Dc2. In the carrying-in of the sheet P relative to the carrying-in passage Ra and the carrying-out of the sheet from the carrying-out passage Rc, the central position in the sheet width is used as a reference.
