<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travelling support device and method that can induce a driver to the acceleration operation that increases the opening of the accelerator pedal. <P>SOLUTION: The travelling support device detects, on a travel route of the own vehicle, a target vehicle speed position where the vehicle speed of own vehicle is made the target vehicle speed set beforehand; detects the acceleration start position on the travel route to start the acceleration to make the vehicle speed the target vehicle speed at a target vehicle speed position; gives the accelerator pedal 12 at a first speed, the reaction force of a level of restricting the opening change to a return direction of the accelerator pedal 12 which the driver of the own vehicle operates from the control starting position which requires the required time set beforehand to reach the acceleration starting position; and decreases the reaction force given to the accelerator pedal 12 by the control reaction force giving step at a second speed that is faster than a first speed so that the opening of the accelerator pedal 12 that the driver operates is lead to the opening according to the target vehicle speed when the own vehicle reaches the acceleration starting position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
