<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element that can reduce luminance unevenness and enhance light extraction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element has a first electrode 20, a second electrode 50 confronting the first electrode 20 at one surface side of a substrate 10, and a function layer 30 which is located between the first electrode 20 and the second electrode 50 and contains at least a light emitting layer 32. The second electrode 50 has a conductive polymer layer 39 having contact with the function layer 30, and an electrode pattern 40 which is located at the opposite side to the function layer 30 side of the conductive polymer layer 39 and has a light extraction portion for extracting light from the function layer 30.
