[Problem] To provide a haze-proof optical article and a method for producing the same, in which the haze-proof optical article has a water-absorbing layer that is formed on a substrate and the primary component of which is a urethane or acrylic resin having a polyoxyethylene chain, and a water-repelling layer that is ideal for haze-proof coating that is formed on the water-absorbing layer. [Solution] A water-absorbing layer the primary component of which is a urethane or acrylic resin having a polyoxyethylene chain represented by -(CH2CH­2O)n- is formed on the surface of a glass or plastic substrate, and a water-repelling layer the primary component of which is at least one selected from an amino-modified silicone or mercapto-modified silicone is formed on the surface of the water-absorbing layer. The water contact angle of the water-repelling surface is set to 100 degrees or greater.
