<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring system that can easily detect a pedestrian that has a possibility to collide with an own vehicle, with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: On the basis of a change rate in size of an image of an observation object between images captured at a preset time interval with an onboard camera 111 and the presence or absence of deformation of the observation object image between the captured images, it is determined whether the observation object is a pedestrian relatively approaching the own vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
