An olefinic polymer obtained using a catalyst for olefin polymerization that is formed from a solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising titanium, magnesium, a halogen, and an ester compound (A) represented by formula (1), R1R2C=C (COOR3) (COOR4) (1), an organic aluminum compound and an electron-doning compound as needed has the same molecular weight distribution and stereoregularity as an olefinic polymer obtained using a conventional solid catalyst component comprising a phthalic acid ester as the electron donor.
