PURPOSE: A monitoring system for personal possessions and a method thereof are provide to sense and inform the real-time information about items getting off at an exit, thereby preventing personal possessions or unpaid items from being taken by a wrong owner. CONSTITUTION: A owner adhering unit(10) is a small sized terminal or a small tag which is adhered to an owner. An possession adhering unit(20) is a small sized terminal or a tag which is adhered to possessions. A recognizing unit(30) is installed at the entrance of a building, and has an inserting part into which the owner adhering unit and the possession adhering unit are inserted. The recognizing unit stores owner information in the owner adhering unit according to the owner input, and stores possession information in the possession adhering unit. A sensing device(50) senses the stored information about the owner and the possessions when the owner goes out through an exit. An possession server(60) utilizes the sensing device as an access point, and detects the real time location of the owner and personal possessions through the owner adhering unit and the possession adhering unit.
