PURPOSE: An electrolyte additive is provided to improve the stability and the high temperature stability of a positive electrode by comprising an alkoxyphosphine compound. CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte additive comprises an alkoxyphosphine compound indicated in chemical formula 1. A lithium secondary battery comprises a positive electrode which comprises a positive electrode active material layer capable intercalating and deintercalating lithium, a negative electrode which comprises a negative electrode active material layer capable of intercalating and deintercalating the lithium, a separator between the positive electrode and negative electrode, and the alkoxyphosphine compound which forms a complex compound together with a metal ion erupted from the positive electrode material or combined to the surface of the positive electrode.
