PURPOSE: An automatic mode switching method of a broadcasting receiving apparatus is provided to recognize a situation that a user does not use a set-top box and to automatically switch the set-top box in a standby mode. CONSTITUTION: An AV output device(100) determines whether an inputted user command is a specific command. If the user command is the specific command, the AV output device generates a control message for control of an operation mode of an STB(Set Top Box)(200). The AV output device transmits the generated control message to a broadcasting receiving apparatus.
