A multi-layer filter 102 comprises a nano-fibre layer 110 positioned to receive an airflow 104, a coalescing base medium layer 112, and a membrane layer 114. The coalescing base medium layer and the membrane layer are positioned for the airflow to travel through the nano-fiber layer and the coalescing base medium layer, then through the membrane layer. Preferably the membrane layer is hydrophobic and may include polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or polyethylene. Preferably an inlet portion of a gas turbine system includes the multi-layer filter. The inlet portion may be positioned to provide airflow (104, Fig 1) to a compressor (105, Fig 1). Advantageously, use of the multi-layer filter may eliminate known undesirable operational features such as short usable filter life due to high dust load environments and filter damage during manufacture. |
