PURPOSE: A search word displaying system using an interactive television service menu and a method thereof are provided to promote the search service usage of a user by outputting a search word even when the user chooses only the menu button of a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A search word data generator converts an entered search word into a form which is same with menu data. A general menu data transmitter transmits the menu data which a general menu server interlocking unit(101) receives to a user terminal. A search word data transmitter(105) transmits generated search word data to the user terminal. A menu output unit(108) outputs the menu data extracted from the above-mentioned menu data. At the same time, the menu output unit outputs the search word extracted from the search word data in a menu type.
