The engine comprises a cylinder block which is closed by a cylinder head (1) obtained by a moulding process. The engine is secured to the chassis of the vehicle by way of an intermediate support (2) which is connected directly to the cylinder head (1). The intermediate support (2) is in one piece with the cylinder head (1) and the unit formed by the cylinder head (1) and the intermediate support (2) integrated into the cylinder head (1) is obtained in one and the same moulding operation, such that in this way the interface between the cylinder head (1) and the intermediate support (2) is eliminated.
