The isolator (1) has a drive system (30) moving a contact element (20) in opening direction. A restoring system (80) restores another contact element (60) opposite to the opening direction, and an adhesion force of a latched connection is provided in a position region of the former contact element while opening the isolator. Another position region is arranged adjacent to the former position region with respect to a disconnecting axis and released such that the latter contact element is restored by the restoring system opposite to opening direction and isolated from the former contact element. An independent claim is also included for a method for opening an electrical high-voltage isolator.
