A filter unit 10 comprises a tubular perforated member 14 mounted between two end caps (16, 18) (the end caps and the tubular member define an interior space within the unit) and at least one end cap has an opening therein in communication with the interior space and is adapted to receive a coupling for a hose, pipe or other fixture. The filter unit may comprise two tubular perforated members 12, 14 mounted concentrically one within another between the two end caps to define an annular space therebetween, the end caps and the innermost tubular member defining the interior space within the unit. The tubular member(s) and end caps may be may be made of plastics. The holes 24 in one tubular member may not be in direct registry with the holes in an adjacent tubular member. The filter unit may be especially useful for extracting water using a hose from a natural source. |
