Charging.-A device for distributing granular material during delivery to a receiver is described in connection with the supply of fuel to a gas producer, and comprises a water-jacketed shoot 5 eccentrically mounted in a rotary casing 1 and adapted to be oscillated in a jerky manner about its own axis by a motor 18 which drives, through worm gear 14 and pinions 13, 34, a mutilated pinion 15 co-operating with a rack 16. The latter has a pin-and-slot connection with an arm 33 secured to the shoot 5 which is returned quickly to its initial position by a spring 17 when the pinion 15 frees the rack 16. The quick return movement throws the fuel resting on a horizontal plate at the bottom of the shoot 5 into the body of the producer. The casing 1 is rotated through gearing 19, 20, 2', by the motor 18 and carries a rod 23 to which is secured a spiked agitator 32. |
