PURPOSE: A wind power generation system and a method thereof are provided to improve output stabilization by constantly maintaining output power, and to reduce maintenance costs as a battery and charger for UPS(uninterruptible power supply) are not necessary. CONSTITUTION: A wind power generation system(100) comprise a power generator(110), a converter unit(120), an energy storage unit(160), and an upper controller(180). The power generator produces electricity using the rotary force of a blade. The converter unit supplies the electricity to the system. The converter unit comprises a first inverter and a second inverter. The first inverter coverts AC voltage into DC voltage, and stores the voltage in a capacitor. The second inverter outputs the AC voltage to be supplied to the system. The energy storage unit stores some electricity from the converter unit, and supplies the electricity to a pitch control unit by converting the electricity. The upper controller blocks the electricity when problems occur, and controls the energy storage unit.
