PURPOSE: An automatic adaptive exposure control method based on a weighted value is provided to perform automatic exposure control in a lighting condition. CONSTITUTION: A digital camera divides an image into an object area and a background area. The digital camera calculates an average brightness value(S104). The digital camera calculates a weighted value if difference between an average brightness value of the object and an average brightness value of the background area is less than a predetermined value(S106,S107). The digital camera calculates the average brightness value(S108). The digital camera controls automatic exposure(S109).
