PURPOSE: A head lamp apparatus for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by allowing six light emitting diodes to have position lamp, daytime running light, and turn signal lamp functions. CONSTITUTION: A head lamp apparatus for a vehicle comprises a light guide bar(10), left and right printed circuit board assemblies(20,30), first light emitting diodes(21,31) for a position lamp, second light emitting diodes(22,32) for a daytime running light, and third light emitting diodes(23,33) for a turn signal lamp. The light guide bar has position lamp, daytime running light, and turn signal lamp functions. The left and right printed circuit board assemblies control the lighting of an LED light source. The first light emitting diodes have a position lamp function. The second light emitting diodes are installed on the left and right printed circuit board assemblies. The third light emitting diodes have a turn signal lamp function.
