PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling the level of molten steel in a mold are provided to reduce the separation of a coil edge portion by preventing slag lime from falling down to molten steel. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the level of molten steel in a mold comprises a first measuring unit(110), and second measuring units(120a,120b), and a controller(140). The first measuring unit measures the level of molten steel stored in a mold(30) at a submerged entry nozzle(25). The second measuring units are located at the same horizontal axis as the first measuring unit and measure the level of molten steel at the short-side portions of the mold. The controller controls an electromagnetic unit for stabilizing the level change of the molten steel by comparing the deviation between the levels measured from the first and second measuring units with a reference value.
