PURPOSE: A device for measuring a slab shape and a method thereof are provided to improving the degree of width precision in a rough mill process by accurately measuring the camber size and width length of the slab whereby the measurement results are used for reducing the camber of the slab in setting each process parameter of a rolling facility later. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring a slab shape of a hot rolling facility comprises a slab detecting part(10), a location detecting part(20), and a shape measuring part(30). The slab detecting part(10) detects a slab(S) which is being transferred. The location detecting part(20) detects location coordinates from plural measuring points on the side of the slab(S). The location detecting part(20) includes a first location detecting part(21), a fourth location detecting part(24), a second location detecting part(22), a fifth location detecting part(25), a third location detecting part(23), and a sixth location detecting part(26). The shape measuring part(30) measures the camber size and width length of the slab(S) using the detected location coordinates.
