A press belt made from an elastomer material forms a closed loop in a longitudinal direction with a transverse direction perpendicular thereto. The belt has an inner and an outer surface and three layers of reinforcement yarns arranged inside the elastomer material. An innermost yarn layer extends in the longitudinal direction with adjacent reinforcement yarns in the transverse direction. A middle yarn layer extends in the transverse direction with adjacent reinforcement yarns in the longitudinal direction. An outermost yarn layer extends in the longitudinal direction with adjacent reinforcement yarns in the transverse direction, which absorb energy and are restored from deformation with delay in connection with deformation. At least one of the material and structure of the reinforcement yarns of the outermost yarn layer are more flexible than those of the innermost and middle yarn layers such that they absorb more energy and are restored more slowly from deformation.
