PURPOSE: A driving device and a grinder with the same are provided to stop driving assemblies when an electric motor or a speed reducer unit is out or order as a power supply module blocks the starting of the electric motor according to fault signals. CONSTITUTION: A driving device(8) of a vertical grinder(2) comprises a tooth profile ring(10) and two or more driving assemblies(12). The driving assemblies comprise an electric motor(14) or a speed reducer unit(16), and drive the tooth profile ring. A safety unit prevents all driving assemblies from being started when at least one driving assembly is out of order.
