PURPOSE: A display device and a display device control circuit are provided to prevent an over-driver from being performed improperly due to a compression error by transmitting image data to the driver after compressing the image data. CONSTITUTION: A display device control circuit supplies transmission compressed data to a driver. First sweep circuits(23,24) generate current frame uncompressed compressed data by performing unfolding processing on current compressed data. Second sweep circuits(28,29) generate a previous frame uncompressed compressed data by performing the unfolding processing on previous compressed data. An overdrive direction detection circuit detects a proper overdrive direction. A first compression circuit generates post-correction compressed data.
