<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method, which can generate image data of high image quality by combining a plurality of pieces of image data obtained by exposure for multiple times. <P>SOLUTION: Image data obtained during exposure whose exposure time is the shortest among a plurality of pieces of image data different in exposure amount obtained by continuously exposing an image element 202 for a plurality of different exposure times at multiple times is determined as reference image data. A first composition processing section 220 positions the reference image data and performs first composition processing in accordance with the reference image data. A second noise reduction processing section 223 performs second noise reduction processing on first composite image data obtained by the first composition processing, and a first noise reduction processing section 222 performs first noise reduction processing on the reference image data.
