<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereo signal encoding device capable of suppressing quantization noise generated when there is a large deviation between a signal level of an L channel and a signal level of an R channel without performing a different process from a conventional one in a stereo signal decoding device. <P>SOLUTION: The stereo signal encoding device includes: an M channel encoding section for encoding a sum signal (hereinafter referred to as an M channel signal) of input two channel signals, with an L channel signal and an R channel signal defined as the inputs; and an S channel encoding section for encoding a signal formed by multiplying a difference signal (hereinafter referred to as an S channel signal) between the input two channel signals, by a weighting coefficient γ that takes a smaller value as the level ratio or a level difference of the two channel signals becomes greater. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
