<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the warm-up period of a fixing device without providing a drive mechanism in achieving a self temperature control function using a demagnetization member. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device has a self temperature control function in which, when the temperature of magnetic shunt alloy disposed on the inner peripheral surface of a fixing sleeve 11 reaches Curie point or higher owing to the heat from a heating layer of the fixing sleeve 11, a magnetic field by an exciting coil 15a is exerted on a demagnetization member 16 to create a magnetic field neutralizing the exerted magnetic field therein, which decreases the magnitude of a magnetic field exerted on the heating layer to prevent overheat thereof. The demagnetization member is made up of a single member in which a winding facing part 16a is disposed on the peripheral surface of the fixing sleeve, and the distance between a non-facing part 16a not facing the exiting coil and the heating layer is longer than that between the winding facing part and the heating layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
