RETARDATION FILM, RETARDATION FILM WITH POLARIZER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern retardation film capable of forming a liquid crystal display device excellent in contrast.

SOLUTION: The pattern retardation film comprises: a transparent film base material; an alignment layer formed on the transparent film base material; and a retardation layer formed on the surface of the alignment layer and including a rod-like compound with refractive index anisotropy. A first alignment region having a fine uneven shape formed to arrange the rod-like compound in one direction, and a second alignment region having a fine uneven shape formed to arrange the rod-like compound in a direction different from the alignment direction in the first alignment region, and a thickness smaller than that of the first alignment region are formed in a pattern on the alignment layer.
