<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for reducing delay when writing data to system memory. <P>SOLUTION: State indicators corresponding to a plurality of cache lines each associated with a unique section of a region of system memory comprise a dirty indication indicating that a cache line is a candidate for writing data stored in the cache line to the associated section. The number of the state indicators that comprise the dirty indication is determined, and if the determined number of the dirty indications exceeds a threshold, a cache line is selected and data stored in the cache line is written to the associated section of the region of system memory, and a clean indication is stored in the corresponding state indicator.
