<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that has usability and consumes lower power and that can promptly discharge a capacitor while saving the cost thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The printer includes a CPU. The CPU determines whether or not the printer is currently in a power OFF state.
