<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stair excellent in beauty and capable of realizing a reduction in construction cost. <P>SOLUTION: A stair comprises: an ascending beam 11 elongated in an inclination direction; treads 16 arranged at equal intervals; and metal fittings 21 and 22 fixing the tread 16 to the ascending beam 11. Each of the metal fittings 21 and 22 consists of a base plate 25 in plane-contact with an upper slant face 13 of the ascending beam 11, a side plate 27 vertically projecting from a side end face of the base plate 25, and a top board 28 horizontally projecting from an upper end face of the side plate 27 and in contact with an underside of the tread 16. The base plate 25 and the top board 28 are made to project in mutually opposite directions, when viewed from the transverse width direction of the tread 16. The base plate 25 is fixed to the ascending beam 11 by threaded nails 32 and two top boards 28 arranged symmetrically with each other are made to support one tread 16.
