<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable two-dimensional images to be converted into three-dimensional images easily. <P>SOLUTION: A depth image generation section 21 generates a depth image from an input image consisting of a two-dimensional image. An LPF 22 executes LPF processing on the depth image to add shading-off thereto. A shift amount calculation unit 23 calculates for each of the pixels of the shaded-off depth images a shift amount which is set by a depth value and places the calculated values in a shift amount buffer 24. A right-eye image shift unit 25-1 and a left-eye image shift unit 25-2 shift each pixel of the input image on the basis of the shift amount set for each pixel by projecting pixel values at positions shifted to the right and to the left by the shift amount, and place the results in a right-eye image buffer 26-1 and a left-eye image buffer 26-2.
