<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of achieving improvement of operability of a manual operating pipe while securing strength of a grip. <P>SOLUTION: The manual operating pipe 4 has a handle 45 extending to a side to which a hose 3 is connected and having a blocked area R with an almost triangular shape in a side view. The grip 44 of the handle 45 is positioned at the rear side of the apex part T of the blocked area R and is formed in such a way that a section height H1 becomes the thinnest at the apex part T.
