<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orbit predicting apparatus that enables prediction errors to be reduced, and an orbit predicting method. <P>SOLUTION: An orbit predicting apparatus comprises an information acquiring unit that receives signals from a positioning satellite and thereby acquires reception data; a satellite position/velocity calculating unit that calculates position/velocity information, which comprises the position and velocity of the positioning satellite; a storage in which the position/velocity information calculated by the satellite position/velocity calculating unit is stored at each point of time; and an orbit predicting unit that estimates the position of the positioning satellite on the basis of the position/velocity information stored in the storage. The satellite position/velocity calculating unit, if the storage stores equal to or more than a prescribed number of pieces of position/velocity information, compares two pieces of position/velocity information whose points of time are close to each other, and after deleting the piece of position/velocity information longer in the length of time elapsed since the start of storing of position/velocity information, causes the calculated position/velocity information to be stored in the storage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
