<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection structure of an inner core in a joint, which protects the inner core as a pipe joint effectively until use, and is excellent in connection workability when connecting pipes. <P>SOLUTION: In a joint body 11, an inner core 14 to connect a resin pipe is provided in a protruding manner, the resin pipe is fastened to the inner core 14 with a fastening ring 18 while the resin pipe is externally fitted to the inner core 14. When a joint 10 is not in use, a protection cap 20 made of polyethylene resin is attached to the joint body 11, further the fastening ring 18 is attached to the protection cap 20. The protection cap 20 has a cylindrical bottomed shape. On the inner circumferential surface of an opening, an engaging protrusion 24 engaging with a flange 12 of the joint body 11 is formed.
