<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid image pickup device that can transfer signal charge the amount of which is as large as possible by a vertical transfer register, and suppress entrance of signal charge whose amount exceeds a transfer charge permissible amount. <P>SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device 100 has a color filter and a vertical transfer register 20 formed between adjacent columns of photoelectric conversion portions 10. A first vertical transfer register 21 has a first transfer charge permissible amount, and a second vertical transfer register 22 has a second transfer charge permissible amount larger than the first vertical transfer charge permissible amount. The sensitivity of each photoelectric conversion portion 10 is different in accordance with the light transmission characteristic of each color of the color filter. A first photoelectric conversion portion 11 has a first saturation charge amount, and a second photoelectric conversion portion 12 has a second saturation charge amount larger than the first saturation charge amount. The signal charge of the first photoelectric conversion portion 11 is transferred to the first vertical transfer register 21, and the signal charge of the second photoelectric conversion portion 12 is transferred to the second vertical transfer register 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
