<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball advantageous for making compatible performances in both the initial velocity and the spinning quantity. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball 10 includes a spherical body 12, a first region 14, a second region 16 and a cover layer 18. The first region 14 is formed on a spherical surface around the center of the spherical body 12. The first region 14 is composed of a plurality of independent islands 22. The second region 16 is formed of the remaining portion other than the first region 14 on the spherical surface. The first and second regions 14 and 16 are different in Shore D hardness. The Shore D hardness of the first region 14 is higher than that of the second region 16. The second region 16 is composed of a sea 24 composed of a portion of the spherical surface excluding the plurality of islands 22.
