PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of determining an abnormal ejection state in an ejection unit on the basis of residual vibration.

SOLUTION: A printer 10 includes: the ejection unit 270 for ejecting ink; a detection unit 290 detecting residual vibration in the ejection unit 270; and an inspection unit 104 inspecting the ejection unit 270 on the basis of the change in the period of the residual vibration.
