<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molecule recognition material excelling in molecular recognition performance and a manufacturing method for the material. <P>SOLUTION: A molecule recognition material that selectively combines with a molecule to be recognized and thereby recognizes the molecule to be recognized comprises a plurality of layers differing in composition and a gap formed consecutively in at least two of the plurality of layers.
