<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in detection timing when detecting an obstacle using plural supersonic-wave object detection sections. <P>SOLUTION: When driving four supersonic-wave object detection sections CRL,CNL,CNR,CRR disposed in approximately mutually equidistance covering the entire zone of a bumper unit 11 in its longitudinal direction, they are sequentially driven from the one located on either end toward the center of the bumper unit. For example, starting from the supersonic-wave object detection section located at the left end, followed by the supersonic-wave object detection section located at the right end, that is, in the sequence of the supersonic-wave object detection sections CRL, CNL, CRR, CNR. The supersonic-wave object detection sections CNL and CNR are driven last, that is, secondly, when the four sections are driven first from the left and right, respectively, and therefore an obstacle located around the center of a travel lane is periodically detected by the supersonic-wave object detection sections CNL and CNR. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
