<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to prevent ink from dropping from a cap, when the cap is retracted from a recording head after a sucking operation has been performed by means of the cap as a recovery operation of the recording head which horizontally ejects droplets of liquid. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the recording head having nozzles for horizontally ejecting the droplets of liquid; the cap for capping the nozzle face of the recording head; a suction means connected to the cap; and a recovery device configured to drive the suction means with the nozzle face of the recording head capped with the cap to create a negative pressure in a cap internal space formed between the cap and the nozzle surface and suck the liquid from the recording head. The cap includes a suction port to communicate with the suction means, at the position that away by a minute gap from the contact portion in contact with the nozzle surface at a lowermost portion in the cap in a vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
