<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser element which can reduce light density at a boundary between an area in which a diffraction grating is formed and an area in which a diffraction grating is not formed; and a manufacturing method of the laser element. <P>SOLUTION: The laser element includes: a substrate 12; a lower clad layer 14 formed on the substrate; an active layer 16 formed on the lower clad layer, and having a disorder portion 16a which is disordered in a part which does not contact with a resonator end surface; an upper clad layer 18 formed on the active layer; and a diffraction grating 18a formed on a part of a layer above or below the active layer. The disorder portion is formed so as to cross a boundary between a diffraction grating portion which is an area in which the diffraction grating is formed and a bulk portion which is an area in which the diffraction grating is not formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
