OPTICAL CONNECTOR INCLUDING PLUG AND ADAPTER, AND CONNECTION METHOD OF OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector which improves connection density of optical fibers and simplifies assembling work by eliminating the need of a coating removal step.

SOLUTION: The optical connector presses end surfaces of coated optical fibers to each other by elastic restitutive force due to flexure of the coated optical fibers to connect the coated optical fibers. The optical connector comprises plugs holding the coated optical fibers and an adapter for connecting two plugs holding the coated optical fibers. When the coated optical fibers are inserted to the plugs, the plugs are in a state of having caps mounted thereon. The caps are used to make cuts on coatings of the coated optical fibers.
