<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the use of set values before replacement when a line equipment base unit and a status communication unit are replaced, if once a line equipment level, a frequency characteristic, etc. are set. <P>SOLUTION: Based on the set values transmitted from a management terminal or a headend, an uplink level set circuit and a downlink level set circuit in the line equipment are automatically adjusted, so that the input/output level of the line equipment is automatically set. The set data are stored into a base memory area and a status memory area of the line equipment. When the base unit is replaced to another base unit, the original set data stored in the status memory area are transferred to the base memory area of the base unit after replacement. When the status communication unit is replaced to another status communication unit, the original set data stored in the base memory area are transferred to the status memory area of the status communication unit after replacement.
