<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring device capable of highly reliably measuring a distance between an object imaged by an on-vehicle camera and an own vehicle with an inexpensive system configuration using an image captured by a single on-vehicle camera. <P>SOLUTION: A first distance estimate value D1 is determined based on a ratio of a size, in a captured image, of an object 53 extracted from the captured image to a standard size value. A feature point obtained by projecting a still point P having a distance from an own vehicle 1 equal to the ground point P53 of the object 53 is extracted, and a second distance estimate value D2 is determined based on at least the position of the feature point. Whether the second distance estimate value D2 is within a predetermined permissible range is determined. According to the determination result, one of the first distance estimate value D1 and the second distance estimate value D2 is determined as an estimate value of a distance of the object 53 from the own vehicle 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
